DISGUSTED mum Linda Matthews says a takeaway she waited hours for eventually arrived inedible and covered in a mystery yellow liquid.

Linda ordered burgers and chips from Wong Kee Fish Bar in Cricklade Road for herself, her husband and two children as a treat.

But two hours later it still hadn’t arrived so she called the takeaway to find out what was going on. Shortly after it arrived but Linda says what was delivered was inedible.

“My husband asked the driver when he arrived if the food would still be warm and he said yes,” she told the Adver.

“Once we opened it all up it was very apparent that it was not warm. But it wasn’t just cold, it was covered in some kind of sticky yellow liquid.

“As soon as I opened it we called Wong Kee but they hung up on me. So I contacted Just Eat and was told they couldn’t do anything until the restaurant marked my order as complete.

“This left me having to then spend another £35 on buying pizza for my family.”

The following day Linda tried to call Wong Kee to find out if she could get a refund but says she was hung up on.

After explaining everything to Just Eat, it agreed to send over a refund but Linda was still upset.

She said: “I was very frustrated when it arrived. We have two children, one of whom is autistic so it’s hard to choose places that he would eat from.

“So it made me very angry that we had to wait until nearly 10pm for us to eat dinner.

“It wasn’t even a matter of bad quality food, it was not edible in any way.

“And I am still very unsure what the sticky liquid was that coated the entire order.

“All I really wanted at the end of the day was the refund – that’s going to take five to seven working days until I receive it.

“I’d like an apology from Wong Kee but I’m not holding my breath.

“Just Eat did send my complaint to its investigations team.”

The Adver spoke to the owner of Wong Kee who doesn’t want to be named.

She said: “On the night we were really busy and understaffed, most of our staff are new too, that’s why the food was delayed.

“But we cooked the food and got it straight to the customer when she called.

“We’ve given the customers a refund.

“But I’m not sure what the yellow liquid would have been, maybe some sauce, perhaps mustard but I don’t know.”
