THE following planning applications have been decided by Wiltshire Council recently:

Rotal Wootton Bassett: A bid to build a single-storey extension on the high street has been given the green light. Ms F Bendall of 66 High Street, applied to the council for listed building consent to put up the rear extension and to install roof lights at the Grade II listed property.

Warminster: Wiltshire Council has rejected plans by Mike Braund for a proposed new porch on the east side of Field Barn, Fisherton De La Mere.

The council’s planning officer opposed the bid as the porch ‘would be very domestic in character and at odds with the character of the existing building and historic courtyard’.

They added that there were ‘insufficient benefits’ that would outweigh the harm to the ‘significant of the non-designated heritage asset’ and deemed the plans to go against Historic England’s guidance on adapting traditional buildings.

Warminster: The Morrisons on Weymouth Street has been approved for an extension following a successful planning bid.

The supermarket has been granted the planning permission for a store extension with vehicle parking canopy to facilitate proposed home shopping offer.

The main concerns over the development, according to the officer's report, included the impact on the viability and development of 3 High Street, the noise from HGV and delivery vehicles, poor design in its setting of a listed building and a detrimental impact on the sale of properties in the area.

However, the officer deemed that the plans fell within the planning frameworks and rubber-stamped the supermarket's proposals.

Crudwell: A bid for listed building consent to replace wood gates and fencing at the main entrance of Crudwell CE Primary School, and permission for the replacement of a metal gate and railing at the side entrance was submitted.

The school, on Eastcourt Road, applied for permission, as noted in the officer’s report as the existing gates ‘are not considered acceptable for pupil security and the school has confirmed that an Ofsted Report requires additional security in the form of higher gates’. These new gates would be 1.8m for the double-leaf access and 1.6m for the two pedestrian gates.

Permission was granted for the plans.

Box: Planning permission was sought for proposed alterations to an outbuilding on 1 Kingston Villas, London Road.

Mrs Williams bid to change the roofing materials and install two roof lights at the property.

The application has been granted planning permission.

Bradford on Avon: Mr and Mrs B Weston have been granted planning permission to convert the loft space at 48 New Road.

The plans will see the space converted with a rear-facing dormer with roofing over the rear parking area.

Corsham: Kevin Murtagh of Holly Tree House, Pound Pill, sought planning permission to build an extension to create space for a biomass wood pellet store and to convert the existing flat roof to a sloping roof.

Approval was granted to Mr Murtagh and in their report, the planning said the main concern was the impact of development on the character of the two-storey period property.

However, noted that the single-storey extension ‘presents a modest alteration’ to the property and is not prominent from the conservation area.

Little Somerford: Planning permission has been granted to Mr P Blakiston who submitted plans to build two replacement dwellings at Russell House, The Street.

In their report, the planning officer wrote: "The information submitted in support of the development demonstrates that the existing dwelling is incapable of retention."

They added that the character, appearance and location of the proposed dwelling were not considered to be 'significantly harmful'.

The parish council objected to the development, stating: "It is accepted there may be some increase in size but the parish council feels nearly doubling the footprint is contrary to the policy."

This was rebutted the objection, they said: "The relevant provisions of the plan and the framework in these respects outweigh the harm stated by the Parish Council in respect to the scale of the replacement dwellings and in-principle there are no conflicts with the plan identified above."
