DRIVING business forward during these uncertain times is the top priority for Fussell Wadman.

The family-run car dealership, based in Devizes, is focusing on the future, while dealing with the effects of the global pandemic.

Mark Wadman, dealer principal, said: “We are constantly trying to evolve with what is happening in the marketplace. Obviously our number-one priority with Covid is keep our staff and customers safe.

“We are doing everything, there is no more we can do on that front to do our bit to protect people.

“Brexit is just around the corner though and that is the great unknown in terms of how it will impact the business. That will be the next hurdle we need to adapt too over the coming months.

“For now, we are just looking to drive the business forward.”

The company was created in 1973 through the joining of two family businesses - Fussell, which was formed in 1928, and Wadman, which was formed in 1948.

“The main difficulty for us during the last few months has been footfall and sales, and that is similar to what I am hearing from other dealers,” said Mr Wadman.

“Used car sales are going well and new car sales are not too bad, but the issue is obtaining the vehicles from the manufacturer. Like everyone, they were shut down and are now trying to catch up with the demand. It’s a knock on effect which seems to be affecting all industries.

“Our workshops are extremely busy though, probably as busy as they have ever been.”
