FOR Optimum Mobility it has been business as usual - albeit with a few minor changes - over recent months.

The specialist mobility services firm, based in Pinkney, Malmesbury, prides itself on providing friendly expert advice, product knowledge and unrivalled customer service.

Director Andrew Taylor said: “We have been affected by the ongoing pandemic, but not as severely as some businesses.

“As a specialist team, we visit 90 per cent of our customers. When visiting care homes or private homes, we wear the required PPE. That’s really the only change we have made, and our customers have been understanding.

“We’re not a disability store like you would find on the High Street, we deal with people who have complicated needs, which is why we visit the majority of our customers as they are unable to get to us.”

Mr Taylor said when people talk about disability stores, many associate it with older people, but that is not for their business.

“Our core client group is made up of young adults to the middle-aged,” he said.

“It’s a necessity for them to have the right equipment to allow them to live their lives - and that’s where Optimum Mobility aims to come in.

“We could work with someone with a disability and wants to make travelling to work as easy as possible. We would look to provide an extremely light wheelchair which can be dismantled with one hand, to put in a vehicle and then reassembled as easily on arrival.

“We are here to offer advice, for those who have had a disability since birth to those who have suffered a brain injury, and in many instances we could be the providers of specialist items for the rest of their life.”
