THE team at The Mobility Store are feeling confident about the months ahead.

The company, which has stores in Swindon, Wroughton, Marlborough and Bourton-on-the-Water, has adapted to the changes needed and business is picking up.

Managing director Willie McIvor said: “Thankfully, it hasn’t really been tougher than normal for us during the past few months, apart from us having to wear PPE and being more careful in general.

“Allowing for social distancing in some of our smaller shops has meant we’ve had to be more economical with space to maximise the products we can have out while ensuring there is still enough room.”

Alongside the traditional range of items, including mobility scooters, wheelchairs and living aids, the stores are also now selling PPE equipment.

One new addition in recent months has been the introduction of an online store.

“We never used to sell online before, but we have started this year,” said Mr McIvor.

“The online shop went live earlier this month and we’ve already seen some success through it.”

Like many businesses, The Mobility Store noticed a fall in footfall and sales figures at the start of the pandemic, but Mr McIvor said that is now changing.

“In March our sales were 50 per cent lower than they were during the same time in 2019, and it was lower in April,” he said.

“From July though we have seen an increase each month, and this month sales should be similar to those that we would expect for this time of year. We are feeling positive.”
