VOLUNTEERS in Semington braved the wind and rain on Saturday morning to plant around 500 daffodil bulbs to brighten up the village next spring.

The planting was organised by Peter Smith who is acting chairman of Semington Parish Council.

He said: “A very big thanks to all nine of those hardy souls who this morning planted maybe 500 daffodil bulbs in the rain and wind and all done with enthusiasm and good cheer.

“Some were quicker at planting than others, but we managed to get them all in by about 11.30am. Over previous years, we have planted up and down the High Street of the village.

"I took some photos of all the daffodils in full flower at springtime and this year we have planted to fill in the gaps.

"Semington’s lovely daffs cheer us up each spring and soften the old A road going through the village."

The £48.50 cost of buying the bulbs was covered by Semington Parish Council.
