Police are investigating after thieves smashed through a glass door to steal a "large amount" of sentimental jewellery.

Wiltshire Police are appealing for information in relation to the burglary in Hullavington.

The incident happened between midday on October 21 and 10pm on October 22 while the homeowner was away.

Police say a rear glass door was smashed to gain entry to the address and a large amount of sentimental jewellery was stolen – some of which "was quite distinctive."

One of the items was a heavy square link chain bracelet which was engraved with ‘Linda’ on the front and a date of birth on the back.

A Rotary watch was stolen, which is described as quite slim in design and had a gold face and black leather strap.

A number of rings were also stolen including two eternity rings and approximately 10 pairs of gold earrings.

A police spokeswoman said: "It is possible that some of the items may have been offered for sale in the Malmesbury or Chippenham areas.

"Anyone with information should call 101 and quote crime reference number 54200106650.

"Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
