Pubs, shops, community groups and local businesses are pitching in to help out with school meals this week. Here are some of them:

MARLBOROUGH

Sue Brady Catering and Love Marlborough Kids Meals have teamed up to offer any children hot baked potatoes, every lunchtime this week.

They can be picked up from St. Mary’s Church Hall in Silverless Street, Marlborough between 12 and 2pm Monday 26th – Friday 30th October.

Jodie Perkins of the Gourmet Brownie Kitchen, based in Poulshot, said: “On Friday we were seeing posts online about how children could be going hungry and felt like we had to do something. We have plenty of ovens and fridges at our unit, and it doesn’t cost us much to pull together some lunches.”

PEWSEY

In Pewsey, the PCCA has launched into action. They say if you’re a family who would need our help on this you can ring us confidentially on 01672 487022 or email meals@pcca.org.uk.

They will be working with the children’s centre and local schools, but welcome any independent queries too.

The Pewsey Spar shop is also offering to help. “We will be providing a lunch for any child in need from Monday October 26 to Friday 30. Just pop instore with your child/children and we will give them a lunch. There is no shame in asking for help and accepting a helping hand. We, as always, are there for you.”

And the Pewsey Hand Carwash has also joined the effort, manager Razzy Ahmed saying: “Just so you know, if you run out of food or necessities or times are just tough, please don’t let your kids go to sleep on an empty stomach, don’t feel afraid or embarrassed, I will do anything to help.

The newly reopened Woodbridge Inn near Pewsey has also offered help, saying people can call in confidentially and take food away. “There is no judgement,” it says. Call 01980 630266.
