TESCO has reassured shoppers its town centre store will not be closing.
Rumours have swirled on social media about the future of The Parade metro store since Debenhams closed in April.
Following the announcement of the closure date of Sainsbury’s in the Brunel Shopping Centre, Adver readers once again shared their fears the Tesco store would be on the way out.
But now the supermarket chain has gone on the record to calm fears.
A Tesco spokesperson said: “We have no plans to close our Swindon town centre store.”
After the closure of Morrisons at Regent Circus last year and the upcoming closure of Sainsbury’s next month, many shoppers were concerned a third supermarket could leave the town centre as the UK's big chains adapt their strategies.
