Volunteers are needed in primary schools across Wiltshire to help improve children's literacy.
Charity Schoolreaders are looking for people with "patience" and "enthusiasm" to make a real difference to young people's lives.
There is no training required - keen volunteers are simply matched with an appropriate local school, where they will visit and listen to children read.
Trowbridge, Swindon, Chippenham and Salisbury are among the areas that volunteers are desired.
Serena Whitbread, Wiltshire ambassador for Schoolreaders, said: “We are looking for volunteers to go into primary schools that have asked for our help, to listen to children read one-on-one.
"Through covid, literacy levels have dropped even further with children being unable to attend school. Sometimes their parents can’t read, or can’t speak English, and we are trying to help get the word out across Wiltshire to raise awareness and to help these children. "
