TOWN Tidy volunteers in Melksham have highlighted the dangers of the recreational use of nitrous oxide cannisters following a litter pick.
Some cannisters and balloons were collected by South West in Bloom during September’s Town Tidy event.
Commonly known as ‘laughing gas’, it is bought in small silver cannisters. It is inhaled via a balloon and can make users feel euphoric and relaxed.
It can also cause hallucinations, dizziness and passing out and, in some cases, can cause permanent nerve damage.
The next Town Tidy litter pick is on Sunday October 4 from 1-3pm. Meet at the Town Hall to register.
