AWARD winning actress Celia Imrie known for her roles in movies such as Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and Calendar Girls could become a familiar sight in Devizes.
Ms Imrie, who has family connections with the town, has just become a patron of Devizes Outdoor Celebratory Arts to the delight of artistic director Loz Samuels and chairman of the trustees Kelvin Nash.
Mr Nash said: “It’s a real honour to have Celia supporting us, we are delighted she agreed to become part of the DOCA family, she has attended our events in the past and has a great understanding of what a difference our events make to the Town.
“Celia is an iconic actress and author and has a deep understanding of the Arts and the impact they can make on peoples lives.”
In a double piece of good news the group has also been awarded nearly £14,000 by Arts Council England to keep festive fun alive this Christmas despite Covid-19 putting paid to the traditional lantern parade. Instead there will be light show installations and a big Christmas market.
