PEOPLE facing money worries can get free advice from today after a Devizes church joined forces with a charity.
St James Church is working with Christians Against Poverty to offer debt counselling.
It will be led in Devizes by Kate Morris. She said that the idea came about after church congregations became worried about financial hardships in their communities.
She said: “Members of St James Church wanted to better serve people living with the pressure of debt.
St James vicar, Keith Brindle said: “Debt stress can be so destructive. It affects family relationships, health and can be very isolating.
“As a compassionate community, we wanted to provide people with a route out of debt and Christians Against Poverty is distinct because it does that in partnership with the church.
“Sometimes people feel they have made mistakes but often they have been driven into debt by suffering from job loss, relationship breakdown or coping with illness in the family or a bereavement – situations that often have a financial impact.” Contact katemorris@capuk.org
