GCSE pupils from Calne's Kingsbury Green Academy have started the year in full throttle with a commitment to make up for lost time by taking on an extra hour of lessons each day.

With the school day now finishing at 4pm for pupils in Year 11, an additional 150 learning hours will be recouped for each class each week.

Headteacher Jason Tudor, said: “I’ve been incredibly impressed by the commitment and determination that our Year 11s have shown since returning for the new school year.

“This additional hour to their timetable each day means that across the week, each pupil receives an extra lesson in maths, science and English, as well as one in each of their optional GCSE subjects. Making up for the time lost over the last five months is a priority for everyone.

“All year groups have come back to school with renewed vigour and have adapted to our Covid-19 procedures brilliantly.”
