A GARDENER who puts her lawn on display for charity has had to switch things up this year because of the coronavirus crisis.

Kerry Conlin, 58, has loved to garden since she picked peas with her dad at the age of three.

And four years ago she decided to start raising money for Doorway Project - a homeless charity supporting vulnerable people and providing them the essentials.

Green thumb Kerry maintains her garden and sells potted plants to visitors, the funds are given to Doorway.

But this year she couldn't invite people to her plot because of Covid so instead she spruced up the doorway to her back garden and continued to raise money by selling perennials.

She said: "Doorway has always been a charity I've been drawn to. I used to be a police officer 35 years ago and I was seeing a future that might lie ahead for some people.

"I think we are all one hop, skip and a jump from being in that really awful place where some homeless people find themselves."

Kerry raised a total of £550.
