TROWBRIDGE Town Council is to continue its campaign to extend its boundaries to include land in North Bradley - villagers there have branded the idea a 'land grab'.

The council’s policy and resources committee decided on Tuesday to pursue the transfer of land in North Bradley to Trowbridge as part of the Community Governance Review.

The council wants to transfer the White Horse ward area of North Bradley Parish Council to Trowbridge to be part of the Drynham ward area with three town councillors representing it.

They also recommended the Park Ward area of North Bradley Parish Council be transferred to Trowbridge Park ward and to be represented by three town councillors.

They say North Bradley should have 11 councillors for the whole parish area. Wiltshire Council discusses the issue at a meeting on Wednesday .

The areas which would be moved include the White Horse Business Park, most of the Ashton Park development and the sites at Elm Grove and Drynham Lane, as well as land between White Horse Business Park and Woodmarsh.

The decision will also affect around 12 houses in North Bradley parish and will mean they pay council tax to Trowbridge town rather than the parish council - a far higher amount.
