PEOPLE in Royal Wootton Bassett and in Swindon were out of power for three hours.

Almost 900 homes lost power in the area at 1.51pm on Monday and engineers were on site trying to establish the cause of the outage.

Just under half of the homes had their power restored but 459 were still without power until later in the afternoon.

Greene King Pub and Grill in Swindon Road had multiple power cuts across the bank holiday weekend.

The owners has to close its doors at midday on Sunday and didn’t reopen until Monday at 10am.

On the same day it had another power cut at 2.25pm and it wasn't resolved until later that day.

They were unable to serve customers and its phone lines were down because of this.

Royal Wootton Bassett, the SN4 area of Swindon including Wroughton, Wanborough and Chiseldon were impacted by the outage.

A spokeswoman for Scottish and Southern Electricity said: “We’d like to Apologise to customers for any inconvenience the power cut has caused and thank for patience while engineers worked as quickly and safely as possible to restore power.”
