MORE than 300 car enthusiasts from all over the South West and south Wales turned up in Trowbridge on Sunday August 9 for an unofficial car rally.

Owners descended on the White Horse Business Park on Sunday afternoon between 2pm and 4pm to show off their vehicles and chat.

Alex Gale, 41, from Halfway Close, Hilperton, went along with his 13-year-old son Zakk, a motor sport enthusiast, to see the cars after learning about the rally on social media.

Mr Gale said: "I think the organisers expected a few dozen local enthusiasts.

"But they attracted over 300 cars travelling from all over the South West and some from south Wales.

"They included various highly modified and custom cars and super cars, some of which were very expensive.

"A lot of young lads were taking pictures and the police turned up and spent about five minutes looking round and chatting to people before disappearing.

"It was quite a spectacle. There were literally hundreds of cars there, including some car clubs from south Wales.

"People were turning up all through the afternoon; at one point a group of 50-100 cars turned up at the same time.

"It was all good natured; there was no anti-social behaviour or people burning rubber.

"I think the organisers must be feeling quite pleased with the turnout. There was a lot of support from the number of people who turned up."
