Police have stepped up patrols at a play area in Devizes that has been plagued by antisocial behaviour this summer.

People who leave near to a green space and assault course play park near the Kennet & Avon Canal have been disturbed by the noise and behaviour of teenagers who gather there.

They have complained to police about the youngsters who leave behind mess at the Le Merchant play area and in nearby woodland.

Police visited the site on Saturday but found no gatherings or wrong doing. A spokesman said: "Local Devizes Neighbourhood Officers were out and about this evening, patrolling areas where Anti Social Behaviour has been recorded. Thankfully no issues to report."

But people took to social media to ask the police to visit later in the evening as most trouble happens after 9pm.

Another person asked police to carry out a patrol at Dowse Road, Devizes. They said: "There are teenagers smoking weed and taking drugs in the Dowse Road Play area pretty much every day. "From around 9pm each night there are groups of teenagers that are keeping my children awake shouting and swearing."
