Charlton Park Estate, home of Womad Festival was taken over by a Malmesbury band who used their initiative and decided that there would be a Womad 2020 after all.

The internationally renowned festival had to cancel this year's event due to the coronavirus pandemic.

With the kind permission of Lord Suffolk, Will Lawton and the Alchemists, and a small crew, played a two song set on the famous historic site on Sunday, July 26 and documented it for all to enjoy.

It's been a dream to play their most local festival for a few years so they took matters into their own hands and booked themselves.

A spokesman for the band said: "What an epic day. Security was tight, but we got through and played a two song set as the rain clouds parted and sun shone on us. It’s taken a few years of asking to break through to this wonderful festival but perseverance is the key."

The band hope that Womad might see the video as a creative application for next year's festival.
