EVERYTHING from garden tools to bikes were given a new lease of life when Sustainable Devizes took over part of The Shambles.
People were urged to go to the Repair Cafe rather than throw things away.
John Schofield from Sustainable Devizes said: “Devizes residents were able to have their kitchen knives and garden tools sharpened, and their bikes serviced at the Sustainable Devizes inaugural Repair Cafe.
“Volunteers set up a temporary workshop in The Shambles to encourage repair and reuse of household items rather than disposal in landfill.
“The event proved to be very popular with a constant stream of customers bringing an array of knives and tools which were honed to a sharp edge.”
Among the visitors were Devizes Mayor Chris Gay, who brought a pair of garden shears for sharpening, and Wiltshire councillor Laura Mayes with a bike.
It is hoped it will become a regular event.
