MORE than 140 villagers marched on Saturday (July 25) alongside a Pewsey mum who is fighting to get her two daughters back from Libya.

Tanya Borg's two girls, Angel, 20, and Maya, 8, were abducted to Libya five years ago by her ex-husband Mohamed El Zubaidy.

On Saturday, she made an emotional plea for help to villagers who joined a parade to raise awareness of her children's plight.

"I'm not doing it for myself but for my two daughters. They need help," said Miss Borg, 40, a pre-school supervisor.

"I am really humbled by the support from everybody. It just proves how much my children were loved by the village. They know that this should not happen."

Miss Borg has been fighting to get back her daughters since Mr El Zubaidy left them with his mother Khadija in Tripoli in 2015.

She claims that Angel is being kept a prisoner by Mr El Zubaidy's family and being moved from house to house.

"I last time that I saw my daughters was in May last year at their grandmother's house.

"Angel tried to run away and was bundled into a car by her grandmother.

"She is being held in captivity with no access to a mobile phone and is not allowed to see anybody."

Supporters marched from The Coopers Arms pub along the route of the Pewsey Carnival while chanting the names of the two girls.

Miss Borg, who met her ex-husband in Malta, was granted full custody of her two children in both Britain and Libya.

Judges have twice jailed Mr El Zubaidy, 42, of Wood Green, London, for breaching court orders to return the children to the UK.

On Saturday, August 8, Miss Borg plans to take a coach-load of supporters to Number 10 Downing Street to hand-deliver a letter to Prime Minister Boris Johnson pleading for his help to get Angel and Maya back.

Miss Borg is trying to raise £50,000 to help free her daughters. So far, she has raised £1,545. An auction on Saturday raised £600.
