The queues to get a haircut were longer than the queues for a pint on Saturday, as hairdressers opened for the first time since March.

Customers looking to get their hair back in shape waited for as long as three hours outside their favourite barbers.

Many female hairdressers required customers to pre book their appointment whereas male barbers still had walk ins.

Armends barbers in Headington is a walk-in barber shop and regulars sat on roadside bollards to form a socially distanced queue along Windmill Road.

Woodstock Barbers still had a queue outside at 7pm.

Dave Edwards took a snap of the long queue and said people were waiting for nearly three hours.

Aduen Benjumea works at The Plain Barber Shop in Cowley.

He said: "It was pretty good yesterday, it seemed to be mostly regular customers waiting for us to open."

He added the barbers had temperature screening on the door, required staff and customers to wear masks, they used disposable gowns and had plenty of hand sanitiser to keep everyone safe.
