A WOMAN who was found face down in the River Avon in Chippenham on Monday has died in hospital.
Emergency services were called to the river at 8.30am on Monday after reports of a woman in the water near Riverside Drive.
A Wiltshire police spokesman said today: "The lady died in hospital yesterday. We are not treating the death as suspicious."
The coroner has been informed and it is expected that an inquest will be held.
On Monday South West ambulance said it responded to the call on Monday by sending an air ambulance and two road vehicles.
A South West Ambulance spokesman said: "Our staff treated a female patient at the scene and transported her to hospital by land ambulance in a serious condition."
