A youth who threw dog mess at the front door of an elderly person in Calne have been caught by police.

Officers, who put pictures of the suspected group who gathered outside the house on social media, said yesterday they had now been tracked down and the ring leader identified.

A spokesman said: "As part of our enquires we released images of a group who were believed to be involved in this incident. As a result of those images several names were given to us, including the name of the boy responsible.

"PCSO Mark Cook attended the home address of the boy responsible in Chippenham, where he admitted to his actions.

"The boy's involvement in this criminal damage has been resolved using a Community Resolution approach, where the resolution has been completed in line with the victims wishes.

"The parents of the other identified members of the group have all been contacted and advised in regards to this incident. The parents contacted were already aware of this incident and have spoken with their children accordingly. Some members of the group were not directly involved, but happened to find themselves apart of this by association."

PCSO Mark Cook of the Calne Neighbourhood Police Team said: “We would like to thank everyone who contacted us in regards to this matter. This was a distressing and upsetting incident to happen to the elderly resident.

“This sort of behaviour will not be tolerated in Calne, we will always investigate matters which cause the most harm to our community members. We will, where possible, always seek to take the most appropriate action against individuals involved in matters such as these in line with the victims wishes.

“Historically, Calne suffered with its share of youth related Anti-social Behaviour. It is important that we always take steps to challenge this sort of behaviour, so we do not return to those times.”
