A CHIPPENHAM business has agreed to continue backing the Chippenham and District Sunday Football League, as Shoestrings Chargrill are to continue as the main sponsors.
Shoestrings Chargrill proprietors, the local Webb family, are well known for their support of local football. With the league unable to complete this season because of coronavirus, and still unsure when matches can re-start, league officers acknowledged their ongoing commitment to the league, especially in these uncertain trading times, when they announced the good news at the recent online AGM.
As well as the Shoestrings Chargrill takeaways at The Bridge and Audley Road in Chippenham the family also serve traditional fish and chips at Buckles in Timber Street, where there is a dine-in facility, and at the recently rebranded Platts in Sheldon Road. The name recognises the original owner of the shop.
A League spokesman said, “In such uncertain times with sport, in general, facing the repercussions of financial instability our clubs are extremely fortunate to to have the backing of a local business, and we are proud to carry the name of Shoestrings Chargrill.”
