HUNDREDS of volunteers are continuing to help vulnerable people in Royal Wootton Bassett though the pandemic.

Health workers and the town council launched a mutual aid scheme at the start of the lockdown in March.

Helpers have been collecting shopping, providing essentials, picking up and delivering prescriptions and making friendly phone calls

Now the scheme has more than 370 volunteers who have delivered hundreds of food boxes that have been donated, along with almost 1,500 prescriptions.

Many of the boxes built and sent out were paid for by the town's carnival.

The volunteers help with anything from a spot of shopping and posting letters to checking in with a friendly phone call or fetching urgent supplies.

And RWB Academy has made and donated face shields for the group’s prescription deliverers.
