Melksham businessman is being thanked for his vital work during the coronavirus pandemic.

By day Matt Goodall is the director of Office Evolution Ltd, a photocopier supplier business that also delivers office supplies, furniture and safety equipment but by night he volunteers with Freewheelers EVS Blood Bikes, supporting both Great Western Air Ambulance and Wiltshire Air Ambulance, by transporting blood and more recently COVID-19 samples to hospitals and pathology labs.

Freewheelers riders usually work overnight during the week and 24 hours at the weekends, transporting anything from blood to much-needed medical equipment.

This vital courier service is currently being run 24/7 to help the NHS during the pandemic at no cost to the health service.

Riders will sometimes meet up with those neighbouring blood bike groups to transport items across several counties in a relay, ensuring timely deliveries of critical samples.

The Nationwide Association of Blood Bikes supports blood bike charities across the UK that provide a free out of hours medical essentials delivery service.

It is an entirely voluntary organisation that relies solely on donations.
