Many of Malmesbury’s unique retailers are set to re-open next week with a new social distancing scheme.

The changes will be taking place on June 10 so that shops are ready to re-open on Monday, June 15.

These changes include measures such as creating extra space for pedestrians in Upper High Street and Oxford Street to make room for queuing outside of shops, as well as installing signage and information boards to help visitors move around the town centre safely.

Mayor of Malmesbury, Cllr Campbell Ritchie said: “All the changes are temporary and put in place after close consultation with retailers, businesses and Wiltshire Council.

“The town centre scheme is designed to support the changes retailers are making inside their own shops and businesses with the changes lasting for as long as needed to ensure public safety.

“Malmesbury has a fantastic range of shops and businesses who are adapting as fast as they can - whilst meeting government guidelines, to offer local, innovative and welcome services as re-opening continues.”

More details of shops open will be published on the Discover Malmesbury Facebook page.
