Trustees of the Tetbury Music Festival have announced the cancellation of this year’s festival, planned for October 2020.

A joint statement from the chairman and festival director of Tetbury Music Festival said: "The continuing impact of the Covid-19 virus and the ongoing uncertainty around government recommendations for concert halls, live performances and social distancing, have forced us to conclude that we cannot go ahead as planned with the schedule of performances from Lestyn Davies and Thomas Dunford, Benjamin Grosvenor and Hyeyoon Park, the Eusebius Quartet, Manu Brazo and the Orchestra of St John’s.

"This is a great disappointment to us all and to our dedicated and supportive audiences.

"However, the situation is constantly evolving and Tetbury Music Festival will continue to monitor it closely so as to remain flexible and responsive.

"Should restrictions change and live music become possible closer to the autumn, we will make every effort to bring it to Tetbury.

"We remain in close contact with the wonderful musicians whose work we are all so longing to hear live again and we are committed to the ethos of the Tetbury Music Festival which is to bring to this part of the world the very finest music.

"In the meantime, with the help of our loyal supporters, we are working to offer some financial support to those musicians whose livelihoods have been so impacted by the effects of the coronavirus.

"Plans are well advanced for the festival in 2021, and we encourage all our supporters to remain in touch with us via our website, Facebook and Twitter for updates and news."
