A MENTAL health nurse from Wiltshire has been given £15,000 for her new home.

Laura Knott, 31, has been living with her boyfriend at his parents' home for almost a year and has received the money to go towards a new three-bedroom property at Mill Brook in Westbury.

The money is part of the new NHS Deposit Contribution Scheme launched by Barratt Developments – the parent company of Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes – which gives a five per cent deposit to help NHS staff buy a new home.

This means NHS workers in Swindon and elsewhere will now be able to receive up to £15,000 to buy a new house.

Laura, who works in Bath, said: “We’ve been together for seven years and living at my partners’ parents for the last year.

“The NHS discount means we’ve been able to buy our dream home now, rather than buying a smaller home then saving again to move into a bigger place.

“And since we want to grow our family that has made such a difference.”

The scheme was launched this week.
