NURSERY school worker Laura Emm has had her waist length head completely shaved to raise money for a hospital which is treating her mum for breast cancer.

Laura, 32, from Market Lavington, near Devizes, was a bit worried about allowing her husband Nathan to wield the scissors and clippers.

But she needn't have worried as her new look has won approval and she has raised more than £4,000 for Salisbury District Hospital Stars Appeal.

She said: "I'm completely overwhelmed by how wonderful people have been. I've had donations and words of support from friends, family and people I haven't seen in years and complete strangers.

"The shave itself was lovely as some of my friends turned up to watch from a safe distance.

"It made it much easier having them there."

Laura, who is mum to twins Pippa and Millie, seven, and Kitty, four will be donating 29 inches of hair to the Princess Trust so it can be turned into wigs children and is being sponsored for an appeal at the hospital where her mum is being treated.

She said: “At the beginning of the year my amazing mum was diagnosed with breast cancer and it rocked our family to the core.

“But she is receiving fantastic care at Salisbury District Hospital where the Stars Appeal raise funds tirelessly to finance expensive medical equipment, including a specialist breast Unit.”
