DEVIZES Foodbank is urging people who need help with supplies to get in touch as they have plenty of goods thanks to people's generous donations.

Liz Starling project manager of Devizes and District Foodbank, which covers east Wiltshire including Marlborough and Pewsey, is worried that some people may not know how to access help or that food can be delivered.

She said: "Devizes and District Foodbank have been overwhelmed by the generosity of people in donating food at this time.

"We do have concerns that we are not giving out as many food boxes as we were when the Covid 19 restrictions were first brought in and although some of this may be due to the Government food boxes and Wiltshire Council food boxes that are going out, there may be quite of few people who cannot afford to buy food but do not know how to access help.

"Our foodbank is still operating as normal in that, people who cannot afford to buy food will need a voucher or referral from one of the partner agencies that we work with in the Devizes and the Kennet area."

She said that children's centres, housing associations, social services, Wiltshire Council and Citizens Advice were all agencies that can make a referral to the Foodbank and also help the person with budgeting for example.

All the below agencies are still contactable by telephone or email.

Citizens Advice is currently operating a telephone and email service only at the present time and can be contacted via the online enquiry form on their website http://www.citizensadvicewiltshire.org.uk/ or by phoning 03444 111 444.

Wiltshire Council (Local Welfare Provision) can be contacted on 0300 456 0110 – see their website for more information: http://www.wiltshire.gov.uk/benefits-help-crisis.

Ms Starling said: "Once we are notified by the agency that they are making a referral for someone who cannot afford to buy food, we will then arrange to deliver an emergency food box to them."

We are not able to give out an emergency food box without a voucher so if anyone does contact us direct, we will ask them to contact one of our partner agencies.
