Fire fighters have been called to a second farm fire in the same village within four days.

On Thursday crews from three counties were called to a barn fire in Aldbourne and then on Monday evening Ramsbury fire fighters were back after 22 bales of hay were found alight in a field.

A spokesman for Ramsbury fire station said: "Our pump and water carrier were mobilised to 22 bales of hay alight near Aldbourne at 10.06pm. Hose reel jets, drags and forks were used to help extinguish the fire."

On Thursday crews from Ramsbury, Swindon, Hungerford, Ludgershall, Royal Wootton Bassett, Newbury and Wantage attended the hay barn fire in Aldbourne just after 6pm but found the access down a narrow lane difficult.

A Wiltshire fire spokesman said: "Crews defensively tackled the fire to ensure that it did not spread and cause further damage and continued to monitor the barn throughout the night."

A spokesman for Ramsbury fire station said: "We took a call this evening to a hay barn fire near Aldbourne. Ramsbury was in attendance with appliances from Swindon, Hungerford, 4x4s from Wantage and Ludgershall and a water carrier from RWB.

"It was quickly determined that the 4x4s were the only appliances getting to the scene and they remained to monitor and make sure it did not spread."

Walkers were advised to stay away from the area at Baydon Hill near Ford Farm because of fumes.
