THE bomb squad was called to Devizes yesterday after a World War Two grenade was found in a garden.
Police were alerted that a grenade had been found in Southbroom Road at 3.30pm and closed the road and called in bomb experts.
A police spokesman said: "As a precaution, the item was moved away from the property and the road was closed to traffic.
"Following an enquiry to our colleagues of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team, it was determined that the grenade was no longer live and completely safe."
This meant that the road could be re-opened.
Police thanked people for their patience.
