PUPILS at Corsham Regis Primary School will get a surprise when they go back to class after the Covid-19 corornavirus lockdown.

One of their key workers, Sarah Hodges, has painted a large multi-coloured mural of a peacock - the school’s emblem.

The 6ft by 6ft giant mural will welcome the children back to the academy school in Kings Avenue, Corsham.

Mrs Hodges, a teaching assistant at the school, said: “I think it will be a nice surprise for the children when they come back to school. I think they will love it.”

Mrs Hodges has spent hours working on the mural, using the peacock as the main theme, and still has about ten hours work left before it is finished.

The school is open for the children of key workers. Between four and 11 children are attending classes every day.

The mural is painted on doors to the boiler room in a corridor to the right of the school’s main entrance.

Mrs Hodges added: “The mural will welcome the rest of the 170 children back when we finally open full time.”
