Heals of Malmesbury have been nominated to receive a donation of more than £3,000 from NFU Mutual’s Agency Giving Fund.

Rural insurer, NFU Mutual has allocated £1m to help frontline charities during the coronavirus pandemic.

NFU Mutual’s Chippenham appointment representative, Mark Constable, nominated the Malmesbury charity to allow their volunteers to continue to support vulnerable people and families across North Wiltshire.

Appointed representative for the NFU Mutual in Chippenham, Mark Constable, said: “The coronavirus pandemic has had a huge impact on everybody, including our customers and their local communities.

“Heals of Malmesbury is making a wonderful difference to our community in these challenging times, and we are proud to have been able to nominate this local charity to benefit from NFU Mutual’s national fund.”

Heals supports people in Malmesbury and the surrounding area by delivering meals to over 100 people three times a week and has launched a hardship fund to keep families out of debt.

Cllr Gavin Grant, chair of trustees for Heals of Malmesbury, said: “We’re extremely thankful to NFU Mutual Chippenham for nominating our charity to receive a donation from the NFU Mutual Agency Giving Fund. The money will go a long way to helping us support vulnerable individuals and families across the North Wiltshire area.

“We can now focus on sustaining our emergency ready meals delivery three times a week to more than 100 of our most vulnerable elderly residents and families, replacing broken essential household items for people who cannot afford them, getting our Emergency Hardship Fund set up and issuing an increasing number of Foodbank vouchers.

“We are also working with colleagues to secure PPE for our care homes, making sure prescriptions are collected and helping our head teachers ensure those who qualify for free school meals get them.”

To ensure the Agency Giving Fund reach every corner of the UK, the insurer appointed representatives from its agency businesses and NFU Mutual branches, and gave them the opportunity to nominate a charities for a share of the fund.
