PUPILS and parents at Easton Royal School have been practising their moves and shaking their stuff for a lip-sync video.

Families were each sent a section of Jackie Wilson’s Higher and Higher song to video, with them singing or lip-syncing along.

They then send the clips to be edited together by staff at the village school, before it is launched on Facebook for all to see.

Headteacher Becky Stubbs came up with the idea to keep the 60 children at the school feeling like they are still part of a community.

“They have really gone for it,” she said. “They have mostly recorded a section each and then sent the bits to us here. It looks a lot of fun.”

She has also been reading bedtime stories, live, each evening at 6.30pm.

“They can see us, and they can make comments on the stories in real time which is a good way of keeping them feeling like they belong to something,” she added.

Parent Siobhan Boyle says they are very grateful to the school and all the effort it has been making for the children.

“The support the school has given to parents and children during this time has been amazing.

“They have been setting great school work activities with great genuine care and advice about how to approach this sometimes overwhelming task of home schooling,” she said.

“The teachers support has certainly helped me to de-stress about it, whilst encouraging the work we’ve been able to produce.

“Their focus on connectivity between families and school has been brilliant and they are working hard to ensure the educational needs of the children are met, whilst introducing optional fun activities like the lip-sync

video.”
