A MAN who assaulted a police officer and an ambulance worker in Trowbridge has been jailed for six months.
Darren Bosworth, 35, of Gloucester Road, Trowbridge, appeared at Swindon Magistrates Court via video link on Saturday (18/04/20) charged with two counts of assaulting an emergency worker and criminal damage.
He pleaded guilty and was jailed for six months.
It relates to an incident in the town last Friday morning (17/04/20) when an ambulance was called to Bosworth’s home address due to concerns for his welfare.
While there, an emergency care assistant was punched to the face and, when police back up was called for, a police officer was also assaulted.
The criminal damage charge relates to the emergency care assistant’s glasses, worth £300, being broken during the assault.
Inspector Andy Fee, from the Trowbridge Area Community Policing Team, said: “These are difficult times for everyone, but the emergency services continue to be there for people when they need us most.
“It is completely unacceptable that two emergency workers, who are out in our communities continuing to serve the public and protect people, have been physically assaulted whilst at work.”
