WALES & West Utilities is working hard during the Covid-19 Coronavirus pandemic to continue to meet the needs of the 7.5 million people living in the communities it serves across Wales and south west England.

To make sure people are safe and warm at home, the company has paused all planned gas pipe upgrade work across Wales and south west England.

Rob Long, Wales & West Utilities chief operating officer said: “We have made this decision to protect our customers and colleagues during these extraordinary times.

“Our engineers will still be working round the clock, keeping the gas flowing safely to your home and responding to gas emergencies."

“If you do smell gas, call us immediately on 0800 111 999 as normal."

"You’ll be asked a few quick questions, so please tell us if you are self-isolating or have symptoms of COVID-19.

"We’ll still come and help you, but our teams will take some additional precautions to keep us all safe.

“In the ever-changing landscape of this pandemic, we want to reassure our customers that our priority is to keep them safe, while keeping energy flowing to homes, hospitals and other vital infrastructure.”

Wales & West Utilities is also urging people who have received a letter from the NHS advising them to take additional measures to protect themselves from Covid19 to consider joining the Priority Service Register (PSR).

Mr Long added: “Joining the PSR is simple and allows us, and other energy companies, to look after those people who need extra support."
