THE M4 remains closed and drivers are being urged to find an alternative route.

The incident happened at around 2am today closing the road from Junction 15 at Swindon East to Junction 14 at Hungerford.

Accident investigators are at the scene.

A spokesman for Highways England said: "Road users wishing to continue their journey westbound, are advised to follow the ‘Hollow Black Square’ diversion symbol from J14.

"Take the first exit to join the A338 south. After three miles at Hungerford, take the A4 westbound.

"Proceed to the BA192 by Charnham Park. Taking the BA192, continue west for 13 miles via Aldbourne to the A419 junction near Swindon. Then take the A419 south to re-join the M4 at J15.

"Road users wishing to continue their journey eastbound are advised to follow the ‘Hollow Black Circle’ diversion symbol. Follow the above diversion, but in reverse.”
