This is the first picture of Peter Cooper, jailed for 13 weeks this morning for spitting in the face of a Wiltshire custody officer.
The 36-year-old was feared to have been suffering from coronavirus. The officer at whom he spat is now self-isolating.
Cooper appeared before Swindon Magistrates’ Court this morning. He pleaded guilty to assaulting an emergency worker and being drunk and disorderly.
Chairman of the bench Jane Flew said the offence was so serious only immediate custody was appropriate.
