Cirencester College is taking on the challenge of providing much needed safety visors for local NHS staff during the coronavirus outbreak, but need help gathering components.
Staff at the college are using 3D printers from their design workshop to help produce the essential visors after hearing that staff in Cirencester were in desperate need of more protective masks.
However, whilst the college can produce the bracket of the visor that attaches to the head, they need help sourcing the elastic to hold it in place and the clear visor screen itself.
The specifications for the parts needed are as follows.
The clear visor needed is a sheet of 240mm x 240mm sized plastic, typically PETG 0.5mm which will then be hole punched to match the small extrusions on the front of the band.
The pieces of elastic or cord that are needed must be strong and able to be cut to length.
Jim Grant, principal at Cirencester College said: “Here at Cirencester College we are incredibly proud to be supporting the NHS at such a crucial time by helping to produce this essential equipment.
"However, we do need assistance in sourcing parts and are urging local businesses to get in touch if they have anything that they can provide.
"There is a great sense of community during this time and it would be fantastic to be able to make full masks to donate to NHS staff in Cirencester.”
