CAR parks at four Swindon parks have been closed until further notice.

Swindon Borough Council shut Lydiard Park, Coate Water, Stanton Park and Barbury Castle's car parking facilities until further notice.

The parks themselves are open for people to exercise as long as people do not have to drive to reach them.

This follows the double gates leading to Coate Water's car park being locked on Saturday by the council after Wiltshire Police raised concerns about a large number of people flouting coronavirus lockdown advice by driving to the lake.

People are being encouraged not to travel anywhere unless it's absolutely essential (e.g: food shopping).

Exercise outdoors is limited to once a day and people must keep two metres away from others in order to lower the risk of spreading coronavirus.
