A MAN has died after a fire broke out in a property in Poole.

The emergency services attended the blaze in Maple Road on Friday evening.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “We were called at 8.29pm on Friday March 27 to a report of a fire at a property on Maple Road in Poole.

“A man was removed from the property by the fire service and very sadly was pronounced dead at the scene by the ambulance service. His family has been informed.

“The fire is not being treated as suspicious.”

Fire crews from Westbourne, Springbourne, Hamworthy and Redhill Park attended, as well as the Springbourne support unit.

A spokesperson for the Dorset & Wiltshire Fire Service said: “We found the fire on the second floor flat of the building.

“There was 12 breathing apparatus used, as well as two hose reel jets and one main line to extinguish the fire.

“The stop message came in at 9.48pm.

“The cause of the fire has not yet been determined and there is a joint investigation with Dorset Police.”
