A POPULAR Tetbury pub has transformed into a food delivery service securing local jobs for the future by providing a new, essential service to the community.

The Priory Inn has responded to Government instructions for all cafes, pubs and restaurants to close during the Covid-19 pandemic, and has gone from pub to food delivery service

The doors of The Priory Inn may be closed, but the business isn’t.

In fact, the move has turned the business into a home delivery operation which not only sells its stone baked takeaway pizzas to residents but now, also despatches dozens of boxes of fresh fruit, vegetables and meat, daily.

Other essential items such as bread, toilet rolls and milk may be added to the order.

The Priory has received and delivered over 500 boxes in the last week alone.

“We are covering the five valleys area and we’ve been amazed at the take up,” said pub manager, Becky Davey.

“We focus mainly upon those who are self-isolating and socially distancing and since we’ve been at the heart of the community for many years, we knew that, ironically, even though we were actually closing, this was when our customers needed us more than ever.”

“So, instead of them popping into the pub like normal, what better way for us to keep in touch and continue to provide a service, than for The Priory Inn to pop out to them instead!”
