FINDING time for a bite to eat, a drink and a chat has just been made easier with the opening of a new community cafe on Hodge Lane, Malmesbury.

Burnham Court, the Abbeyfield Society’s housing development restaurant has recently received a makeover with the hope of encouraging more people from the wider community to call in.

Jessica Hilsdon, the site’s Operations Manager, said: "The space now incorporates a community café with a warm, welcoming and inclusive environment, serving a wide range of homemade food and hot and cold drinks for residents, staff, volunteers and visitors alike to enjoy.

“With the success we have had in hiring our facilities out to local groups and constantly welcoming visitors, we felt that it would be an opportunity missed to not give the restaurant more of a community feel.

"We hope more people will see Burnham Court not just as a place for older people to live, but also for meeting and chatting over a great cup of coffee and a snack.”

Lynne Jones, Head Cook, said: “We are excited about introducing new menus, which incorporate breakfast, lunch and all day availability of homemade cakes and speciality coffees.”

Jessica added: "The opening was well-attended by residents, neighbours and community groups that make use of the facilities. They were able to take in the atmosphere, share their thoughts on the café and sample some of the treats on offer.

“We’re open daily from 8:30am to 3:30pm.”

Burnham Court opened in July 2017 and provides accommodation for older people, enabling them to live independently.
