The closure of Marlborough College and its move to an online learning environment caused by coronavirus means that surplus food could be donated to local charities and care homes on Friday morning.
A spokesman said: "The College regularly serves 3,500 meals per day, catering for pupils and staff, which meant a surplus of items including fresh fruit, salad, vegetables, bread, eggs and milk.
"These items were donated with visits to the Jubilee Centre and the Orders of St John Care Trust Day Centre, which will support the vulnerable and elderly.
"Food was also delivered to Sue Brady Catering, where items will be used in food parcels to support local families with children on free school meals and key workers."
