YOUNG librarian Aaron Prior, 14, hopes to see his passion for reading recognised in a national award.
Aaron, a pupil at Abbeyfield School in Chippenham, is one of the finalists in the UK Pupil Library Assistant of the Year award. He said: “I’m really proud to become a finalist for the award. It has given me the opportunity to show the importance of school libraries, my passion for reading and volunteering in school.”
He was nominated by the school librarian Gareth Evans, who said: “I nominated him because of his great volunteering work in the library over the past three-and-a-half years and his passion for reading. I’m really proud that he has made it to the final.”
Co-head teacher Ralph Plummer said: “Aaron has been so dedicated in this role and has supported Mr Evans in improving the school’s library and the environment for our students who use the space for a variety of reasons.
"We are very proud of Aaron and his achievements and wish him all the best for the finals. He very much deserves this recognition.”
Aaron will find out if he is the winner at a prizegiving ceremony in London on Friday. It is the second time that a student from Abbeyfield School has made it to the finals of this award.
