Many people will be familiar with the Herd Football team in Cirencester, but few will know where the name actually came from.
It was named after a group of teenagers by Rev Adam Ford who was Curate in the town in the mid 1960’s.
Adam threw open his church-owned house at 53 Dyer Street to young people to meet, play music, be creative and enjoy good clean fun.
For many youngsters it was a second home and an environment that fostered new ideas and interests which included sponsored walks and silences, camping trips - and group visits to different types of churches in the town.
